This may seem, at first glance a strange inclusion in this place of alternative cures and natural healing remedies, but when you stop to think about it, having romance in your life is in itself a very powerful health bringing situation.
I can write this from personal experience, as for quite a long time after the end of my previous relationship I spent it alone. Well not quite, as I had my faithful dog Chelsea with me who gave me great companionship and comfort, but when I decided to move from England to the warmer climate of Spain it was just me and my dog.
I’d bought a mountainside farm about twenty kilometres inland from the main city of Malaga, but it might have been in the middle of nowhere because my nearest neighbour was a kilometre away! Which, at the time suited me just fine as I wanted to be alone and get close to nature.
Well that was fine for a while, but I also needed to earn some money, so I joined a blues band down on the coast which was a lot of fun and meant I could socialise two or three nights a week and get paid for it while I spent the rest of the time enjoying the solitude my farm gave me.
After a while though, that solitude turned to longing for a partner as I eventually came to the conclusion that I’m not the sort of person that can live on their own and thrive. Fortunately for me, the band was the best way of meeting people and it wasn’t long before I met my current partner.
She used to come along to our little concerts with some friends and we soon all got to know each other. We started dating soon after and realised that we were falling in love.
Now during that time, I noticed that my health had improved markedly because I was so happy and content. Happiness is one of the key features to having good health, because a happy person is positive in outlook and smiles and laughs a lot, which are natures great health givers.
So how did the romance go?
Well, that was nearly four years ago and today we’re living happily together here in southern Spain. The only sad part is that my dog, Chelsea died just over a year ago and it took me a long time to come to terms with that, although my partner has two adorable little Yorkie Terriers that bring us both even more happiness.
So is this a fairytale romance?
Perhaps it is.
Could it’s story become one of the great Romance Novels?
Maybe…
